Honeymoon Trends

Sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and excitement of wedding planning that your honeymoon planning doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

Your HONEYMOON! …  that first intimate vacation you have as husband & wife, that moment when you literally have not a care in the world, when all of the stresses have rolled off your shoulders and you’re having the time of your life playing as a married couple.  What could be better than that?

So I decided to research some trends for 2017 honeymoons.  Are you ready?

Adventure Honeymoons: How about a road trip to some of our National Parks?  Hiking, biking, rafting, sailing…beyond just fun in the sun on a beach with a drink, these active, adventure-based honeymoons let couples get off the beaten path and indulge their passion for being active in the great outdoors. And what’s more romantic at the end of a long day than a side by side couples massage?

Foodie Honeymoons: Plan an itinerary around a city or cities to savor the best new restaurants, food festivals, or wine and food pairing. This can be a river cruise, a specialty cruise or a land based honeymoon.

Small ship cruising: Many couples want off the BIG BOATS and are choosing instead something smaller, opting for  an intimate experience, less touristy ports, and off beat itineraries worldwide.

Or here are two more options:  Maximoons (extended honeymoons) and Minimoons (shorter honeymoons tacked on to the end of a destination wedding …  to our Oregon Wine Country, of course!).

Nationwide, couples spend an average of 3x more on a honeymoon than on a traditional vacation.  But what could be more worth it?  You and  your new spouse together without a care in the world.

Ready to begin planning?

Contrary to a popular urban myth, it’s not more expensive to use a travel agent.  Travel agents get paid from their vendors (the same money that is simply pocketed by the vendors if you do all the travel plans yourself).  Just like a Coordinator is a must for your wedding, a travel planner is a must for your honeymoon!  Think of her as your Honeymoon Coordinator.  Create your Pinterest Honeymoon board, take it in/share it with your travel professional, and voila!  She takes your visions and budget and creates a  memorable honeymoon just for you …  without you having to spend hours and hours online researching and shuffling and stressing.

You may need to stretch your budget, but you don’t want to get stuck in a crummy room because it was cheap.  True value means you get the experience you want and feel that the price you pay is worth the investment.  Travel planners are experienced at sorting through the myriad options available and that level of expertise means the world when it’s a honeymoon.

Travel professionals love when you come in with ideas, suggestions and information you’ve researched online. Just like bringing pictures to your florist gives her an idea of your favorite colors and styles, your ideas and research help us help you make the best decisions. Your honeymoon is NOT the time for DIY.

You want to relax, knowing the details are under control and you just can’t get that online. Developing a relationship with a travel professional now means someone has your back before, during and after your honeymoon.
