Destination Weddings: really quite fabulous!
The image most people have of a Destination Wedding is surf, sand and palm trees. That’s an option, but not the only one. A destination wedding really just means having the ceremony out of town. Ideally it will be somewhere your guests will want to go–perhaps a place steeped in history or culture. You don’t have to get on a plane–how about a winery a few hours away? Or a ski lodge? But while you’re dreaming, why not a castle in Europe? Or even a Mayan temple in Belize?
Usually, a destination wedding means you’ve flown to the ceremony site and you won’t have far to travel for your honeymoon. By combining your wedding and honeymoon in a destination wedding, you can actually save money while creating a very memorable event!
Have you considered Europe for a destination wedding? There are beautiful old castles, wineries, hotels, and (obviously!) churches just perfect for your wedding and reception. And the lure of the destination will surely be a big “wow” factor for your guests.Your guests may choose to extend their stay and explore after the wedding–we can help them with their plans.
Where’s the Perfect Place for You? Maybe you’ve always dreamed of being married in Maui…but maybe your ideas have changed or maybe you really don’t know where to go! We can help you choose the best place for your combination wedding and honeymoon. We’ll help you decide on a venue if you want to get married and honeymoon in the same location, such as on an island in the Caribbean or a beautiful Mexican resort.
Another popular option? -Getting married and honeymooning on a cruise! Doesn’t have to be a big ship–although that is certainly an option. The smaller boutique ships offer wedding ceremonies and vow renewals, too. By choosing the same destination for both your wedding and honeymoon, planning becomes a breeze! And by using us— honeymoon specialists and wedding planners— you can make your wedding day and the time following into a relaxing, unforgettable trip.
You have the option of being married in a U.S. port before sailing–and there are some advantages to doing this. #1, your non-sailing guests can attend the wedding and reception and disembark before the ship sails. #2, when you reach your ports of call you will already be honeymooning and the ports are yours to explore!
Guest Activities: Destination Wedding-Honeymoon Combo What do your guests do when the destination wedding ceremony is over? If you choose to get married and honeymoon on a cruise, you and your guests will have a wide variety of activities available on the ship. Plus, you’ll be visiting different ports of call, and the shore excursions range from shopping tours to cooking classes to ziplining, horseback riding, golf and more! We can easily create group experiences in a port if there’s something you all want to do together.
Another thing to consider is when guests will arrive before the wedding. You can plan activities, tours and other amusements for early-arriving guests. Most of the time, guests at a destination wedding will want to explore the beautiful environment and take in the local attractions–it’s a vacation for them as well as for you! We can arrange activities for every guest while you stay relaxed and pampered.
How about horseback riding in the surf with your bridesmaids and friends ?
Get the guys and the dads together for some pre-wedding golf! A great way to bond and get some exercise after the flight!
How to Plan for a Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Planning a wedding and honeymoon combo is often easier than planning the two events separately. There is only one set of logistics to coordinate, and we’re here to help! When planning where to have your wedding and honeymoon, often you’ll want to look at the honeymoon destination first; many all-inclusive resorts and other honeymoon areas offer a wedding ceremony as a basic add-on to your honeymoon package. And the “free wedding” is usually pretty basic and for a very limited number of guests: if You want extras you can purchase one of the resort’s packages. We’ll help you sort out which resorts offer the services and amenities you’re looking for!
Be aware, however, that even if a resort offers a free wedding with your honeymoon, you will still have to pay for legal fees to get married in that country (which can be about $200). We’ll help you sort out visa requirements and determine if you need to spend time in the country before the wedding.

Destination Weddings Can Be Very Affordable! Destination weddings and vow renewal ceremonies have become accessible to more and more couples looking to add an “exotic twist” to their special ceremony. Properly planned, a destination wedding or vow renewal can not only save you money, it can turn your wedding day into an unforgettable trip for both you and your guests. Your wedding may become your guests’ favorite vacation! There are a lot of options to ensure guests get the best rates on airfare and hotel–even if they’re not flying together!
Although hotels will often give some form of discount for groups of 10 or more if you book directly, it is important to keep in mind that hotels, by necessity, are in the business of maximizing the amount of revenue they bring in on the rooms they book. By working with an experienced travel coordinator with appropriate negotiating power, you will not only generally receive a better deal for you and your guests and avoid the costly misunderstandings that suck the fun right out of the wedding.
YES, YOU CAN DO IT ALL YOURSELF… But is it worth the risk? Planned right, a destination wedding or vow renewal ceremony is truly the most unique way to commemorate your special union. Unfortunately, we’ve heard quite a few horror stories over the years from brides and grooms who chose to plan their wedding entirely on their own. Missed flights with no emergency number for support, hidden clauses in hotel contracts leaving couples with an enormous financial liability on their hands, reservations being dropped by the hotel – forcing couples and their guests into a “2 star hotel in paradise.” Not the way to begin your new life. Make it easy –we’ll do it for you.
Remember: Destination weddings take considerable planning and research, and the best properties & accommodations
often book far in advance of the wedding date. The earlier you begin planning your wedding, the greater the likelihood you
will be able to book the perfect property for you and your guests.
“…And they all lived happily ever after.” The End.
